(Mission Viejo, CA-June 14, 2021) MPT today announced the win of a strategic new contract to deliver a Luneburg lens demonstrator for LEO satellite ground communication. The system offers performance and cost benefits compared to alternative methods, and this contract will culminate in a system that will provide a benchmark for expected performance specifications of the system.
“This contract win demonstrates MPT’s commitment to our customer’s success,” said Dr. Rick Sturdivant, President of MPT. He continued, “The completed system will provide customer capabilities that are difficult to achieve with other antenna technology.” This contract win adds to the diverse product and capability offerings for MPT customers in satellite communication.
Luneburg lenses have been in use for many decades, but this contract will demonstrate cost and performance targets not previously achieved using the latest advances in materials, antenna designs, and semiconductor processes.
